No New Year's Eve Run this year. Run on Sunday 2 Jan 2011 at Dempsey

No New Year Eve’s Run this year (2010). Run on Sunday 2nd Jan 2011 at Dempsey Road at 6.30am.

Tomorrow is New Year Eve. Unless there are big objections or suggestions to alternative venues, I have decided to call off our usual midnight run as the crowds make it quite difficult to have a decent run. I think the crowds will be even bigger this year with all the IRs in the Marina Bay. Hope the Gardens in the Bay will be ready next year and we can go there again. If there are interest, we can have a New Year Day run on Saturday ( separate notice if there is run), else we will do our usual Sunday run on the 2 Jan.

For Sunday run, we will have it at Dempsey Rd. Breakfast at Ah Seng. Usual time 6.30 am. I know it is still dark in the morning but it is quite nice to start early and watch the morning getting brighter.

For a Better Tomorrow ( 明天会更好) ( Masa Depan Yang Baik) ,

Our First Run at Pasir Ris Park on 26 Dec 2010

Our first run at Pasir Ris Park on 26 Dec 2010

We had our first run at Pasir Ris park last Sunday. Was not expecting a big crowd but turnout was better than expected. Holiday man Mark showed up with his two daughters, Ironman Eric was there with his wife and even Dearest Mui Keng was able to topo her way to the Park. Of course, local host Lily made an appearance to ensure that we are safe in her kampong ( actually this is her first visit to the Park !! ) . All in all, some 15 people turned up for running, walking or breakfast. The route inside in the Park is not very long but you can do some extensions and have a decent distance. It is also near the sea and the mangrove walk is certainly interesting for people who have never bashed through mangrove swamps before. We will certainly return to the Park in the future.
We had breakfast at the coffeeshop near Lily’s clinic. There are at least 3 to choose from and I have one that is breezy and cool. There is some variety in the food and coffee is so-so. Eric proudly wore his Ironman T-shirt ( having spent a bomb in $$, blood and sweat ) and I hope Ldr A had it recorded in his photos. For shoppers, the Ikea and Giant hypermart are just nearby in Tampines so as to make the trip worthwhile.

Run on Sunday 26 Dec 2010 is at Pasir Ris Park. Meet at Car Park C, Pasir Ris Green at 6.30am

This Sunday is Boxing Day and there are suggestions we should try out something new and go to the Far East. ( ok, a bit north east) . So, we will try out Pasir Ris Park. I have to warn you folks that it is very far away – so sleep early and begin the journey earlier.

We will meet at Car Park C at Pasir Ris Green. There are some toilets nearby to wash up after the run but no showers ( I think) .  To get there,

From TPE towards SLE
Take Exit 3B into Pasir Ris Drive. Next turn right at Pasir Ris Drive 1.
Turn left at Pasir Ris Central and then take a left again at the T-Junction and then head straight into Car Park C Pasir Ris Green .

There is a loop around the park around 6 -  7 km. We will try to divert a bit here and there to make it about 10 km.

To tell you the truth, I have not been there for a long time – so it will also be exploring for me. But then it is end of year, so have a bit of new spirit !!
Hope to see most of you there . Usual time – 6.30 am. We will find a coffee shop nearby and have breakfast . But Pasir Ris food is actually quite bad ….
