Look at this ABC male runner's well-pedicured toes.

This male ABC runner has easily the best-pedicured toes amongst all the male runners. Who is he? If you feel yours are better than his, please let me know. For comparison, I have featured the toes of another male ABC runner (see photo below).

Meet Lai Yoke the ABC durian "opener"

(Remember to turn off the Imagine Video Clip by pressing Pause before you press Play on this video clip; otherwise, you may hear extra "voices", which is no good for your mental health.)

Lai Yoke took charge of opening the durians on 26 July 2009 at Leader C's house at Garlick Avenue. "Most of the durians were easy to open," said Lai Yoke, "except for this one which is shown in this video clip. I kept mumbling: It's not ripe, it's not ripe. Bee Lok and Nai Eng tried to help me open it and they too encountered difficulty. Finally, Shih Ping showed us how to tell if a durian is not ripe. I would now shake a durian before trying to open it to tell if it's ripe."

Shih Pin shows the right way to tell whether a durian is ripe

(To watch video, click on the play button above; press the pause button in the Imagine video clip at the same time; otherwise, you will hear two voices at the same time which is no good for your mind)
Shih Pin recently joined ABC. He is Pei Lin's husband for those who of you who have not met him yet; she told me today that the easiest way to remember her husband's name is to remember the word: SHIPPING. He is seen in this video clip demonstrating to ABC runners his skills in checking whether a durian is ripe or not. Sources mentioned to Leader A that his family once upon a time owned durian plantations in Malaysia; much of these plantations have since been converted to tin mines. Too bad, otherwise, we can arrange durian plantation tours headed by Lai Yoke, our chief durian "opener" (see Lai Yoke opening durian in another video clip).

16 turned up for run, breakfast and durian feast on 26 July 2009 at Garlick Avenue

16 ABC runners (David, not in the photo, left earlier) came for their Sunday morning run at Garlick Avenue. The post-run breakfast was prepared by Wen Eng, Leader C's wife, and the Mountain Cat durians were brought there by Bee Lok. The little boy, second from left, is Choon Chiang's nephew, and the new face Dr Chua Lee Beng, second from left back row, is Chiu Ngor's friend.

Chiu Ngor leading the pack along the returning route at Nichol Highway.

11 galant ABC supporters (including Eric and Mui Leng) turned up to support the SHAPE runners. 9 of the runners (shown above) ran from Car Park B1 ECP to
Nichol Highway to cheer the ABC runners enroute. We saw only Choy May and Chiu Ngor. We missed anther 10km runner Guat Hong. We also missed the 5km runners (Bin Hwee, Zoe, Lewina and Sarah) as they had made an earlier U turn and did not run through this stretch of Nichol Highway.

Bee Lok meets Jackie Chan in Hong Kong

From Bee Lok

I had a rather interesting week. I met Jackie in person on Tuesday in Beijing. Although I was never his ardent fan, I thought it was quite unreal to meet him. In the original plan, one hour was allocated for our meeting. But after the meeting, we ended up having lunch with him followed by a museum tour in the afternoon, dinner and then drinks in a private club. In 2 short days, I learnt a lot about him. (On Wednesday, I visited his house, office and studio in Hong Kong.) He is very expressive, just like in the movies. Very friendly and easy going. Very generous and a good host.
