More photos of ABC Potluck Party at Peilin's place

Great turn out at ABC Party at Peilin's place at Marigold Drive

13 showed up for today's run at SICC Sime Road

David Teo's report: "13 of us showed up at SICC Sime this morning for the Sunday run. Most took the south-easterly route via the reservoir’s boardwalk or the X-Country trail to MacRitchie park and returning via Lornie. It was a usual run .... nothing spectacular and no paranormal sightings this time except for a projectile that crashed through the foliage as we proceeded towards the forest’s gantry from Car Park D. Some of us thought it must be a durian as they known to be in season. Others however were quite doubtful as they did not hear the characteristic “thud” when it landed. Whatever it was Zoe Boon thought she caught a whiff of the undisputed king of fruits as she ran by later. "

Evan will "run or hobble" through Phuket as dedication to Yihui. ABC Runners wish her a speedy recovery

Read the details of her fall by clicking on her photo on the right

Reactions poured in from ABC runners instantly:

From Choy May: Understand how disappointed you were with yourself! Don't blame yourself, it could happen to the best of us. Like Yi Hui, who did not expect a chest infection to ruin her dream of summiting Mt Everest, just do you best but listen to your own body. We know you could always do another Marathon and beat the guys! Wishing you a speedy recovery and a good rest.

From Leader B: Oh dear ! Hope you get well soon !! Take care and relax for now. I am sure you can make it !

From Bee Lok: What a terrible incident! Hope it recovers fast so that you can make it for the marathon at Phuket.

From Mahean: The training that you have done already should be more than sufficient for the phuket run. Trust me. All you need to do now is to ensure that the wound heals properly.

From Seng Cheong: Wow! What spirit! What dedication! So the spirit is strong even though the flesh is, for now, 'weak' (ie damaged..). So most important now is to heal well and fast and I'm sure you'll make it to the run....

From Nai Eng: So sorry to hear that. Take care and rest, speedy recovery in time for the next run.

From Mark: this is a good time for you to take stock, go easy from now till Phuket and rest well for the run. Only then can you enjoy the run - forget about timing but focus on the great company and the fun time we will have together. We may not be the Fastest or the Fittest but we are the Most Wonderful, Funfilled and Inspirational Running Group in the World - the ABC RUNNERS !!. Hail the 3+1 Leaders of A, B "N" C not forgetting Stalwart Grassroots Champion - Lau Goh CC and his family.

From Patrick: Don't worry, just ensure that your wound heals properly before you run. Otherwise please take care not to aggravate the injury. I think with your physical fitness the healing process could be fast, take good care ! Look forward to see you in Phuket! God Bless You!

From Lieng Seng: You are an awesome in so many ways -- how quickly you accomplish longer and longer races, how driven and enthusiastic you are and how caring and compassionate in the way you live....do allow yourself to be kind to you, Evan too. I've trained and run for 15 years with all kinds of people including a few elite and professional runners and I can assure you that most everyone have experienced events that prevented them from racing or performing at the level they trained for, on race day. It happens. It is disappointing, panful, mystifying. But you should recognize that a marathon is a combination of 2 parts - the more challenging X mths of training and the few hours of the race itself. You have done a good, sustained and consistent 6 mths of trg...I've found that the trg is by far the tougher one to string tgtr. It is also the trg that gets you the fitness and the mental toughness. So, if your body is ready on race day, go for it. If not, there're many races available and you can simply continue on the great trg you have already done. Whatever happens, it will be the best for you...if you allow it. You shld not blame yourself for the fall...that's the part where you should be kind to yourself....as you have always been to others. Besides you may not really know why that happened. I am sharing this with you because I've been there...and tho I can't say I've always followed the above I can assure you that it would be what I would love to do (and what I wld aim for). Whether you race in Phuket or not you have achieved a lot Allow yourself to celebrate that As an ABC member I'd congrat you...as would everyone else

From Leader A and the rest of ABC Runners: Wishing you a speedy recovery

ABC Runner Sim Yi Hui is a member of the victorious Everest team

Our runner Sim Yi Hui (2nd from right above and standing to the right of Evangeline in the photo below taken on 13 March 2008 at Dempsey Road) returned home triumphed with the rest of the Mt Everest Team. This is the first time a women's team from Singapore has succesfully scaled the highest peak in the world. We would like to thank Evangeline for reminding us of Yi Hui's ABC connection. Read Evangeline's account in the ABC Runners Writers Blog

More Sundown Marathon 2009 photos

These 2 top photos were taken before the race; getting ready to move to the Start Point. Notice Lily was in her casual attire and not wearing the new ABC singlet. Later, she decided to don the new ABC singlet (see photo below) to support the ABC runners at various points throughout the route. What a gallant act considering that she had just recovered from what she called "exhaustion" from over-work and insufficient sleep.

Other supporters besides Lily were (from right)
Lelani, Lai Yoke, Oon Jin, Jasmine, and Choy May.

Another great ABC runner, Pei Lin, who was there throughout the race with Jasmine, to provide support to Leader B.

AYG and Zoe with our staunch ABC supporters (Chiu Ngor, Choy May, David on the left and Lily nd Bee Lok on the right). Bee Lok stopped his car at Loyang Avenue (around 36km mark) to encourage AYG to run faster and then drove off to the end point to wait for the ABC runners with rest of the supporters.
